New heat by Stardeath and White Dwarfs
Stardeath and White Dwarfs released their debut album, The Birth, this summer. They are best known for touring with the Flaming Lips (Wayne Coyne = lead singer Dennis Coyne’s uncle) and also have toured with Deerhoof, Explosions in the Sky, British Sea Power, and Band of Horses.
Kid Cudi featuring MGMT & Ratatat – Pursuit Of Happiness
This is the third single off Kid Cudi’s debut studio album Man on the Moon: The End of Day. The song was produced by Ratatat and features vocals by MGMT. The video is from the Late Show with David Letterman which originally aired on September 11, 2009.
Ghost Under Rocks by Ra Ra Riot
At the Ra Ra Riot show last night at Emo’s in Austin TX! Our first concert since moving to Austin and definitely nothing to sneeze at (we liked). Lots of energy from everyone on the stage and the humbleness of seeing them pursue around the venue mingling with fans in the crowd. Their set list covered most of their album, The Rhumb Line, and played Too Too Too Fast, Can You Tell and this song:
The two opening bands made the show entertaining as well. Princeton, a LA-based band formed in 2005 by twin
brothers Jesse & Matt Kivel, their friend Ben Usen and drummer David Kitz, is releasing their debut record, Cocoon of Love, September 29th (just next week). Maps and Atlases, formed in 2004, includes band members Dave Davison, Shiraz Dada, Erin Elders and Chris Hainey.
Austin City Limits Festival 2009
As Dj Ra to the Ra and myself are attending this world renowned festival next weekend I would like to showcase some of the bands I am planning on taking in visually and aurally. Ricky follow suit or I will sew your anus closed and keep feeding you and feeding you…

Scarlett Johansson & Pete Yorn – Relator
I really like this song but you have to think somewhere Zooey Gibbard and Matthew Ward are smirking. Can anyone pick out the Beatles lyrics they blatantly stole?

Atlas Sound w. Noah Lennox – Walkabout
Atlas Sound is the name of a musical solo project of Bradford James Cox, the lead singer of Atlanta four-piece Deerhunter. Cox was born in Athens, Georgia in 1982 and suffers from Marfan Syndrome.[1] The singer has released an album entitled Let the Blind Lead Those Who Can See but Cannot Feel on indie-label Kranky to favorable reviews. In explaining his reasoning for a solo project, Cox has stated, “It’s just that I have ideas that I can’t make work with a five piece rock band…there’s kind of this palette of sounds that I use that I don’t necessarily get to use with Deerhunter”.[2] Cox has noted his heroes to be Ricky Wilson from The B-52’s and Laura Carter from Athens punk band the Bar-B-Q Killers.
Logos is the upcoming second studio album from ambient experimental project Atlas Sound. It is scheduled for release on October 19, 2009 in Europe by 4AD, and on October 20 in the US by Kranky Records, both of which released Atlas Sound’s previous effort, Let the Blind Lead Those Who Can See but Cannot Feel. The album features guest contributions from Noah Lennox (a.k.a. Panda Bear of Animal Collective) and Stereolab’s Laetitia Sadier.
An unmastered and unfinshed version of Logos was accidentally leaked in 2008 by frontman Bradford Cox via his own mediafire account. The incident caused an outrage from Cox, who posted on his blog that he felt what was leaked was simply a “sketch” of what he intended to be the final product; and was not meant to be released publicly. He almost abandoned the project, but continued to work on the album shortly after the incident. A leak of the finalized version of the album surfaced on September 1, 2009.
The album’s first single “Walkabout” (a duet with Panda Bear) was made available for streaming and download on 4AD’s website.
