Cosmo Jarvis – She’s Got You
This one is for all my ‘whipped’ brethren out there. Skateboards, ukeleles, blokes, and tiny shorts…who could ask for more. If you look closely the two friends at the beginning, they remind me of the duo Stony Rivers…with the roles reversed of course!
The Besnard Lakes – Albatross
Who are the Besnard Lakes? A indie band formed in Montreal by a husband and wife duo, Jace Lasek and Olga Goreas. In 2007, they released The Besnard Lakes Are the Dark Horse with a cameo by another appreciated band of mine, Godspeed You! Black Emperor/Silver Mt. Zion. Here is a song from their upcoming album, The Besnard Lakes Are the Roaring Night.
The Delta Mirror – Machines that Listen

According to the band “Each song on Machines That Listen is a story that takes place in a different room of a hospital. Track 2 “and the radio played on” tells of a dying elderly man and his wife’s last moments together, while “hold me down just don’t let me go” is told from the perspective of an ER nurse treating a stab victim.”
Machines That Listen is out March 16th.

You can stream more songs on the band’s MySpace page.
My Morning Jacket – Rocket Man
Maybe I’ve been living on another planet since 2004, but I stumbled across this while getting into the show Californication. A great rendition that I thought may be worthy of a post – you be the judge. The only thing missing is the Stewie Griffin lounge singer cameo.
Toro Y Moi – Blessa Video
This is a fun video for a beautiful song. Toro Y Moi is a one-man project from Chaz Bundick. The album “Causers of This” is out February 2 on Carpark records.

This Guy is Everywhere Right Now
As you should know by now the highly anticipated new Vampire Weekend album is out there. Here is the video for the first single Cousins. As always the video is great and as always the song is fun and catchy. Below it, Ezra Koenig, the lead singer of VM helps out on the track Warm Heart of Africa by The Very Best. The Very Best is a collaboration of Esau Mwamwaya a singer from Lilongwe, Malawi and Belgian DJ/production duo Radioclit.
