Shayna Zaid & The Catch – Morning Sun
I was introduced to Shayna Zaid & The Catch from a gentleman I work with, her father. After giving it a listen a few months ago, I recently recognized her song, Morning Sun, featured on the Ford Edge commercial aired during the Superbowl. I look forward to hearing more great things from Shayna.
Blending elements of folk, indie pop, gypsy jazz, bluegrass and cabaret, Shayna Zaid & The Catch’s sound occupies a place in music that bridges a new gap between the milieu of genres. They have drawn comparisons to Nickel Creek, Feist, Macy Gray, Gogol Bordello and A Fine Frenzy. Zaid’s dynamic stage presence, her powerful smoky voice and her playful jazzy swagger lends an enchanting display amidst a refreshing acoustic soundscape – an equation made up of drummer Christopher Heinz, violinist and mandolinist Yan Izquierdo, guitarist Andrew Baird and bassist Fred Gerantabee.
