LCD Soundsystem – This is Happening

lcd soundsystem this is happening

While not officially out until May 18th, you can listen to the new LCD Soundsystem album in its entirely on the band’s website. Below are a few selected tracks from the album.

Dance Yrself Clean

Drunk Girls

New Video: Tegan and Sara – Alligator (Passion Pit Remix)

I know both of these artists get a lot of burn on S.U. but this collaboration is what is good in music. In the days of horrible music on the radio and uneducated squares saying that there isn’t any good music coming out these days, there are artists like T&S and PP who make music fun and thoughtful again. The difference these days is that with a saturated market due to DYI accessibility and sites such as MySpace, the listener is now forced to find good music. It is no longer spoon fed to you on the MTZ!

Video: Best Coast – When I’m With You

New video for the track “When I’m With You” from Best Coast. The video premiered the other day on MTVU and I’m really trying to not let that bother me.

Color of Clouds – I Want You

Color of Clouds reunites three members of electronic rock outfit Moonraker, with subtle yet spectacular results. The three have kept in close touch over the last few years, but it was only recently that Kelli Scarr and Dan Chen began collaborating, at first just getting one another to play on each others’ tunes, and soon after, writing songs together. Nate Greenberg, having worked closely with both of them, was an obvious choice as a third member – he lends his finely tuned production and programming skills to the project. The resulting sound is a mixture of indie-folk/pop, tinged with electronics, which has been described as ‘what it would sound like if Feist were to sing with the Flaming Lips’. Simple electronics accent the flowing, yet restrained instrumental parts, providing the perfect background to Scarr’s sultry vocals. Chen sings as well on several songs, and the subtle blend of their two voices sometimes sound as if only one vocalist were in the room.

The Salvadors – Atacama Disco

The Salvadors of Adelaide Australia have enjoyed a bright start to 2010, with their single Atacama Disco sound-tracking countless surfing trips, barbeques and suburban house parties over the summer, whilst enjoying high rotation on Triple J.
