As you should know by now the highly anticipated new Vampire Weekend album is out there. Here is the video for the first single Cousins. As always the video is great and as always the song is fun and catchy. Below it, Ezra Koenig, the lead singer of VM helps out on the track Warm Heart of Africa by The Very Best. The Very Best is a collaboration of Esau Mwamwaya a singer from Lilongwe, Malawi and Belgian DJ/production duo Radioclit.

Richard, is this the new b-side you were referring to? Either way a truly brilliant tune. There are a good handful of records I am eagerly anticipating in the coming weeks. Who is this woman on the cover? Is it Janet Gretzky or a young Katherine Heigl? I like her collar. Is she trying to signal something with half up half down ie. one pant leg down, one up means the possession and willingness to sell illegal narcotics. This is the new side project by Vampire Weekend’s Rostam Batmanglij and Ra Ra Riot’s Wesley Miles.

“I want all the projects I do to have their own distinct goals and vibes,” Rostam tells Spinner. “In Vampire Weekend, I want everything to be proportioned and ordered in a certain way, whereas with Discovery, I want things to get a little more out of control now and then. If there is another Discovery record, expect it to sound very different from this one.”

The album entitled “LP” is set to be released on July 7 features guest appearances by Vampire Weekend’s Ezra Koenig and Dirty Projectors’ Angel Deradoorian.
